What is Webmin?

Webmin is a web-based interface for system administration for Unix. Using any modern web browser, you can setup user accounts, Apache, DNS, file sharing and much more. Webmin removes the need to manually edit Unix configuration files like /etc/passwd, and lets you manage a system from the console or remotely. See the standard modules page for a list of all the functions built into Webmin.

How to access Webmin?

Webmin is comes pre-installed on all VPS plans with Debian OS. It is configured to work on your server’s IP address at port 10000, so if your IP address is 255.255.255.255, you can connect to Webmin by visiting 255.255.255.255:10000 through your browser.

Is there any FAQ or documentation for the Webmin interface?

You can find the official FAQ for Webmin at http://www.webmin.com/faq.html. You can find additional Webmin documentation at http://www.webmin.com/docs.html.

Why should I host my server off-site?

When you purchase a VPS the data center provides you with great network speed, backup power, security, 24 hour monitoring, etc. Where if you decide to host your own server on a local site, you need to take care of all these features on your own – constant and good network connectivity, backup power, security, monitoring, maintenance, etc.

Are automatic backups available on my server?

It is your responsibility to ensure that you have adequate backups of your data and system configuration. It is recommended that you keep backups of your most vital data at your own premises.
