“500 Unable to service PORT commands” error appears when connecting through FTP

You may receive a “500 Unable to service PORT commands” error if you are trying to upload your files through FTP using the outdated “Active Mode” in your FTP client.

Our FTP servers support only “Passive mode”, so you must enable it in your FTP client settings. Please check the available “Help” tools of your FTP client for detailed instructions on how to enable “Passive Mode”.

For FileZilla click on “Edit” from the menu bar and select “Settings”. Next, click on FTP page and make sure “Passive mode” is selected. After that go to “FTP” – “Passive Mode” page and choose “Use the server’s external IP address instead”, click the “OK” button and FTP should be working now.
