.DE is the country code top-level domain (ccTLD) for Germany. The extension name is based on the first two letters of the German name for Germany (Deutschland). The .de domain is one of the most popular extensions in the world. The ccTLD was introduced in 1986 and is operated by the DENIC registry. At present, there are over 15 million .de domains registered.

 

Requirements for registering a .DE domain

Currently, there are no requirements for registering a domain with the .de extension. However, in the past in order to register such a domain, you were required to have an administrative contact resident in Germany. Now that anyone can register a .DE domain, you can register your own from the Domain Manager or our website here.
