The .jp domain is the country code top-level domain for Japan. The domain was introduced on the 5th of August, 1986, and is administered by the Japan Registry Services. There are 2 million registration with the .jp domain extension.

 

Requirements to register a .jp domain

Unlike some other ccTLDs the .jp domain is not available to everyone. In order to obtain a .jp domain, the registrant must have a physical address in Japan. There are also some second-level domains such as co.jp, or.jp, ne.jp, go.jp. The .co.jp domain can be registered by foreign companies that are registered in Japan. The or.jp domains can be registered by organizations. The .go.jp domain is reserved for Japanese government ministries and their endeavors.
