In 2001 The .tv Corporation was sold to Verisign which is now managing the .tv domain. The domain has become popular due to the fact that it is an abbreviation of the word television. Since its introduction, there have been over 500 000 .tv domains registered.

 

Requirements to register a .tv domain

Currently, there are no requirements for the registration of the .tv domains and anyone can register one. The .tv domains were intended for websites with media content.
